The Eagle Has Landed!

The 2008 Myriad hits shelves today, so grab your copy (and your friends' copies, and copies for each of your family members) at the ECC Library and the Writing Center (located in the Humanities building).

Now, while you're on the site, take a glance over to the left at that navigation bar. Those links that used to lead you to pages in waiting are now links to live content! That's right, you can click through the 2008 edition of Myriad online. There may still be a few kinks in the navigation, but such is the nature of a first run.

Join us in celebrating Myriad's release at the reading today at 12:30 p.m. Find the editors, the readers, the big-screen projector, and the stacks of freshly pressed Myriads outside of the Humanities building. See you there!

The Final Countdown!

After many, many edits, examinations, re-edits and re-examinations, we are finally prepared to send the final draft of Myriad 2008 to print!

Our pretty little bound print editions will be hitting the shelves (rather, the counter tops of the Writing Center and the Library, among other locations) Thursday, May 29. We would like to welcome everyone to the reading, which will also take place May 29, at 12:30 p.m. outside of the Humanities building.

Crunch Time

Welcome back, ECC! Hope you all had an awesome spring break and are ready to get back in gear. Here at Myriad HQ, the submission deadline has since passed and we're up to our necks in El Camino creativity! Thanks to everyone who submitted their artwork and showed courage and openness. We appreciate it.

Aside from sorting, rating, and reviewing all the submissions, we've also been working with the Digital Design and Publishing class (Art 143abcd) to produce the visual layout of this year's print edition. We give many thanks to Joyce Dallal and the efforts of her class. This is going to be one great-looking magazine!

Our Voices Essay Contest

ECC's Humanities division announces its essay contest, entitled Our Voices. Ten winners will receive $100 and have their essays published on the Myriad web site! Submissions for the essay contest are due April 26. For more information on the contest, check out Myriad's Our Voices page.

In Myriad news, the staff is gearing up for the final week before print production. Are you gearing up, too? SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY, APRIL 4! Refer to the submission guidelines for further information.
